The death of open air drug markets in LA

Anyone who lived in LA during the 80s or 90s and was gang affiliated or into the dope scene knew how much open air dealing was cracking, particularly in Pico Union and Westlake. Notable spots being MacArthur Park, Bonnie Brae, and pretty much any lil side street off Alvarado. Any day, any time, if yo...

Re: Lil' East Side (Boyle Heights)

valleroguy-is that the same as Original Valley Gangsta Crip (OVGC)? I heard about them out there & them going at it w/ CPA. They also beef it w/ Pacoima Pirus. I remember I went to some apartment complex in Canoga & it was definitely a CPA spot....they had it all hit up & I saw the "NK" tags. I rem...

Re: Sureño Slang

"Surenos have the best clavo, yo tomo un poco carga con el ere y despues fumo un frajo."

Just a few examples of ese slang I've picked up over the years doing time.

Clavo - An amount of drugs, the "stash", the "sack"

Carga - heroin

Ere - Syringe, needle

Frajo - Cigarette

Re: Lil' East Side (Boyle Heights)

Victorious, they killed some random black guy at a bowling alley quite a few years ago. Supposedly, they go at it with a black gang called "West End Valley Gangsta Crip", but I can't say I've ever met anyone claiming that. Although Canoga Park does have a moderate sized black population, atleast com...

Bad Boys/Haskel Street (Van Nuys area)

Anyone know what's up with Haskel Street? Vanowen & Woodley used to be the heart of their hood, nowadays all you see if Bad Boys graffiti.

Don't know much about Bad Boys, are they kicking up any dust inthat area, have they completely shut HST down?

Re: Heavy Metal influence - 1980s

There always gonna be a few dudes from the younger generation that prefer to adopt the current 'fads' & 'fashion' rather than the traditional cholo attire. You can witness that phenomenon to this day, with a lot of the younger gang members wearing skinny jeans & rocking the stretched ears, & other p...

Re: Heavy Metal influence - 1980s

In the early 80's the main beef was cholo gangs vs. stoner gangs. Everything Martinez wrote about in his "the Lott x3" thread also happened in Pacoima. All the stoner gangs in Pacoima faded away or became cholo gangs. There was: Lev Street Rockers(gone) Hard Rock Freaks(gone) Back Street Kids(gone)...

Re: Rockwood in San Fernando Valley?

Bump! This has been really bugging me, over the past couple years, I've ran into a total of 5 eses claiming Rockwood near the intersection of Sepulveda & Roscoe. Makes me think they've carved out a lil piece of turf somewhere in the area? Anyone from Panorama/Van Nuys or a member of Rockwood got any...

Heroin & Cholo Culture

Anybody else noticing a major surge in the use of heroin amongst younger gangsters? I think heroin has always been somewhat present in cholo culture, but it was always the older dudes, the veteranos, that were strung out. I remember reading about the birth of the 'stoner' gangs in the 80's, and how ...

Everytime this topic comes up, it's always a Chicago head initiating it. They seem to be very concerned with what/how/why we're doing things over here.

I know one things for sure, ain't nobody in LA giving a fuck what's happening in the midwest. lol

Re: Varrio 39 St (near USC)

I was in a program smack dab in the middle of their hood, on 38th & Grand. True, that area is largely commercial, but they got apartments right there on the corner of 38th & Grand, also some houses/apartments on 39th. Their graffiti is everywhere, & I ran into a few of em. Not sure if they share the...

RBG. Roscoe Boulevard/Boys Gang. Parthenia Street used to be in the West Valley area, mainly in that block of low income apartments on Lindley between Parthenia & Roscoe. That area is now "claimed" by Brown Pride Surenos.
